New chapter cycling team

We are happy to announce that the chapter along with Revolution Bikes in East Lansing are going to have a race team for the 2008 season. So far we have had several members commit to the team, which should make for a great race season with lot of new friends.

As the team comes together I will update this site with a team roster, results, photos, etc…

Rogue Building @ Burchfield

If the person who is creating new lines and adding new features (jumps) to the trail is on this board please stop!!!

The mid-state chapter has an excellent working relationship with Ingham County Parks and we would not like to ruin that based on rogue building at the park. There have been some recent addtions over the last year and not all of them are up to the building standards of the park. The latest edition is a jump that was placed in Annie’s Playhouse. Early in the spring there were several reroutes added to sections of the trail that made no sense what so ever. Someone has also been moving some of the ground ladders to make additional stunts.
The chapter is planning to reevaluate all of the existing structures over the winter months. Some may need to be dismantled based on their conditions. Hopefully, we will be adding new features in their place if that is the case. As part of our agreement with the park the TC checks all of the trail features once and month and has to fill out paperwork to prove it. If someone is putting in random unapproved features this puts us at risk of losing what we have. If you would like to help with building or have suggestions for the current trail we would be more than happy to hear your concerns. Just don’t take building into your own hands!!!!!

CPS Rep. Wanted …

We are currently looking for someone to represent the mid-state chapter on the CPS committee. The CPS is the MMBA’s mountain bike race series.

Your duties would include:

From the CPS Director    ….at a high level:

* Represent the Chapter from a racing perspective

* Be involved in the planning and prep work to lay out a Series race schedule, rules, promoter relations, budgets/invoicing, sponsor relations and planning.

* Racer relations - points tabulation, dispute management.

* Administrate the CPS during race season – sponsorship fulfillment, marketing and racer communications, Series awards and distribution (Annual Meeting).

* Help the other Chapters with their Benefits as needed.

* Meeting are a combination of face to face in Lansing and conference calls.

This is the Committee as a whole.  The tasks are spread out over the group so no one person is doing everything.  For example – Dennis Murphy from Western typically tabulates the points and handles racer questions around results etc.   Cathy Needham invoices all the promoters for the promoter fee.  I’ve typically handled the marketing/racer communications thing.

Where it’s a group effort is the planning, prep work, dealing with promotors and awards.
